22/20 Impact Assessments
Impact Assessments Director's Guideline [DGL22/20]
The Impact Assessments Director’s Guideline [DGL22/20] and the National Impact Assessment Data Set and Dictionary Technical Standard [TS05/20] work together. They support a consistent and coordinated multi-agency approach in emergencies to:
- reconnaissance,
- damage assessments, and
- information sharing.
Impact Assessments
This guideline describes impact assessments in a Civil Defence Emergency Management (CDEM) context. It has three main parts:
- The impact assessment process, both during and following an emergency.
- The roles and responsibilities of:
- CDEM Groups,
- local authorities,
- emergency services,
- other government agencies, and
- response organisations and agencies.
- Impact assessment planning, including:
- principles,
- requirements, and
- implementation.
The guideline encourages a consistent and robust approach to impact assessments in an emergency. This ensures that:
- there is a multi-agency process for impact assessments;
- response agencies can work together for an effective initial response; and
- impact assessments inform response and recovery activities.
